The valance on a canvas awning is the lower vertical-hanging edge of the fabric. A valance is not necessary but is often seen as a decorative finishing touch. In addition to the height of the valance, there are a few basic options available to customize the look of an awning via the valance. The first choice is the type of valance:

A Scalloped Valance requires Awning Braid to finish the edge of the scallop cut.
Awning braid color, in some cases, may be selected to match the awning fabric or, more traditionally, can provide a decorative contrast.
